Submissions

Golden Alley Press accepts submissions of fiction, memoir, Jewish, Christian, business how-to, and children’s education and stories.

Although we publish authors across a broad spectrum of political/religious views (from Progressive to Conservative, from Protestant to Eastern Orthodox, from Jewish to our Mormon thriller writers), we will decline books that put an overtly negative spin on another faith.

Memoirs are limited to stories of people who have lived through times of remarkable political or historical change.

Fiction: We’re accepting thrillers, historical fiction, historical fantasy, sweet romance. We prefer series writers (or those who intend to be) over single-title authors.

Children’s, Middle Grade, and Young Adult: We are seeking fiction and historical fiction that models positive values and virtues. We prefer stories in which members of the older generation are portrayed as wiser than those of the younger generation (unless the unwise adults are clearly marked as foolish), parents wiser than children, with mothers and fathers equally wise and responsible (i.e. no buffoon fathers). We look for original, complex stories in which the differences between vice and virtue are clear, bad behavior results in natural consequences, and evil is to be vanquished, not negotiated with. We invite books that instill patriotism.

We do not consider works that have been previously published elsewhere, whether in print or online. Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please notify us immediately if your work has been accepted elsewhere.

We appreciate working with agents, but do not require it. If you are representing yourself, please contact us first to pitch your story. Please format your submission as a Word document (.doc or .docx) or PDF and include the following:

  • A brief query (cover) letter
  • A one- to two-page synopsis
  • An annotated chapter outline
  • Market analysis, including competitive research
  • A sample chapter or two
  • Your curriculum vitae (bio) including a list of your previous publishing credits, if any. Being a first-time author is not to your disadvantage.

If we are interested in reading more than the first 30 pages of your work, we will contact you and request the manuscript. So please don’t submit unfinished novels.

Send your submission here. You will usually hear from us within 4-6 weeks.
